How to grow white clover for lawn or for forage
Fertilization, clover is a legume plant that has the ability to fix nitrogen by itself, but the rhizobia in the seedling stage has not yet formed. The cultivation method of azaleas should be supplemented with a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer to help strengthen the seedlings. The application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers has a good effect on increasing production. Only need to add phosphorus and potash fertilizer after it becomes a ping. Before planting, apply 1500~2000kg organic fertilizer for 667m2, mixed with 15~20kg superphosphate as base fertilizer. When the plants emerge when the plants are short and the leaves are yellow, a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be applied. Generally, 2.5 kg of urea, 5 kg of potassium fertilizer, and 5 kg of calcium-magnesium-phosphate fertilizer are applied 15 days after emergence to promote strong seedlings and increase grass yield.
For sowing and seed treatment, the best sowing time is spring and autumn, and the optimum growth temperature is 19~24℃. Spring sowing can be done from the end of March to the end of April, and the temperature is stable above 15℃. Planting in autumn generally starts from mid to late September. Before sowing, the seeds should be soaked. For every 1kg of seeds, add 1.5kg of water and 1g of ammonium molybdate for 12 hours. Mix 5~10kg of calcium-magnesium phosphate fertilizer with 5~10kg of fine soil or yellow sand before sowing. Seed 0.4~0.5kg for 667m2 of artificial grassland. The amount of sowing in humid areas should be small, and the amount of sowing in dry areas should be large. The sowing depth is 1~2cm. If the seeding is too deep, it is not easy to emerge. It should be properly controlled according to the soil texture and dryness and wetness. There are various sowing methods, which can be unicast, mixed broadcast, continuous broadcast or broadcast.
After sowing and before emergence, if the soil is compacted, it is necessary to rake in time to break the compacted layer to facilitate the emergence of seedlings. Clover grows slowly at the seedling stage and is vulnerable to weeds. At the seedling stage, it should be plowed to loosen the soil and weeded for 1 to 2 times; if pests are found, control them in time. Sow in September, bud and bloom in April of the following year, and bloom in mid-May. The height of the grass during the flowering period is 15-20cm, which is a suitable time for mowing and utilization. After mowing, the regeneration ability is strong, and it can quickly form a second stubble layer to cover the grassland. In the hot season, clover stops growing. Large weeds should be removed in time for 2 to 3 years after the formation of the grass cover. If there is a shortage of seedlings due to high temperature and drought in summer, it can be replanted in autumn to restore grassland productivity. If a large area is planted as a grazing land, light grazing can be carried out 1 to 2 months after sowing and the weed height is 20-25cm to inhibit the growth of weeds. Clover has few diseases, but it is not harvested in time, and sometimes brown spot and powdery mildew occur. It can be cut and used first, and then controlled with Bordeaux mixture, lime sulfur mixture or carbendazim.
